This weekend was definitely a tough one. Every female who raced was fast. On Saturday the road race started everyone off. The course was rolling throughout without any real long climbs. The women's race started off with a hammer and never really let up. There were a few good attacks, and on the largest hill on the last lap, the pack really broke up. There were three riders off the front and my group of 4 came in next for the finish. I came in 6th.
Sunday morning started with the 10 mile ITT. Directions to the site were messed up and the official started everyone off too early. So I almost didn't make my start... somehow I ended up 6th. Once again, the course was full of rollers and on the way back, there was a very strong headwind.
Sunday at noon started my criterium around town. More women showed up, and of course this meant that the race was not going to show any mercy to us with already tired legs. This crit was saturated with pure sprinters. There was constantly an attack going on from all the different teams. Our racing speeds were high and it felt good to take the corners as fast as we did. I did the best I could and finished an exhausted 8th. Overall I think that I placed 5th in the stage race, but I'm still waiting for the final results. Not bad for my first stage race, but I missed having my teammates.
