I like this criterium course. It's an opposed figure eight with a few tight corners and a short uphill leg.
I raced solo again and I did too much work trying to burn the deadwood to make the race safe. It was safe and fast. I had almost every corner figured out. The one at the bottom of the hill had a rough exit and I didn't have the same confidence as the other corners.
KC Conaway got away for with 2-3 laps to go. He did it at the right time when the other guys were tired. The big sisies wouldn't chase so I had to and just before closing the deal, I quit pulling. I wasn't going to close the deal and give the others a free ride. While they were looking at eachother, the gap grew again. They didn't get motivated until we were on the last lap. I was bushed to the point that I sat near the front. KC got caught near the finsh and finished 3rd. I may have moved up one or two through the last corners and finished 6th.
Thanks to Ken, Cindi, and the girls for letting me jump in the women's clinic. The cornering drills that morning helped.
