Colavita-Zipp Time Trial Series #1

Very cold and windy. Road in the Standard non-aero class. Got my butt kicked by 26 sec. Can't complain, I had a good run, no way did I leave 26 seconds on the road. It's a start.

10 mile out and back gently rolling course.
Race #1 Cat 4
Brutally cold with 15-20 mph headwinds out to the turnaround. With the wind and the rollers I couldn't get a good rythym going. My face was numb by mile 3. Averaged just over 19 mph battling the wind, made the turn, pushed some big gears and averaged 29.5 mph over the last half. Can you say tailwind?

My finish time place 7th overall.

Race #2 Masters 50-59
Winds shifted to a slight crosswind off the right shoulder. used a higher cadence and made the turn 30 seconds faster than the cat 4 race. Pushed it hard over the last half using the wind and came home 18 seconds faster than my Cat 4 race.

Finish time was good for 5th overall and put a little cash in my pocket. Considering the brutal conditions I was pleased with the results.
